Frequently Asked Questions
We are happy to answer any questions you may have before, during, or after your dental treatments. The following are questions we regularly encounter in our practice. Please feel free to contact us if you do not see the answer to your question here or if you need further clarification.
Are you accepting new patients and referrals?
Yes, we gladly accept new patients! Our practice is built on patient referrals. Because of the comprehensive nature of our practice, when we restore your dental health to an optimal condition, your dental needs will be minimal with simple preventive maintenance. It is a great compliment to our practice when our patients refer their family and friends to us.
How do the doctors keep up-to-date on all of the current techniques and materials?
Dr. Craybas is committed to continuing education for himself and his staff to ensure that the entire office is well-informed of recent developments in the dental industry. Dentistry is a dynamic profession with constant improvements in materials, techniques, and technology. One visit to Creative Dental Concepts of CNY will convince you of their dedication to providing state-of-the-art dental treatment.
What precautions does your office take for safety?
Our staff is committed to your safety throughout your visit with us. We use new or disposable materials that come into direct contact with you whenever available. All of our instruments go through a rigorous sterilization cycle in accordance with American Dental Association guidelines. In addition, our office staff regularly attends continuing education classes on sterilization techniques in dentistry.
What alternatives do I have other than crowns? I do not want to have healthy tooth structure removed.
In many cases, Dr. Craybas can use CEREC porcelain onlays instead of crowns to strengthen your tooth while conserving healthy tooth structure. And best of all, these restorations are done in one visit!
I want my front teeth to look better. What do you recommend?
Each patient is unique, so we suggest you make an appointment for a comprehensive assessment and review. We’ll create a personalized treatment plan with considerations for your current oral health and previous medical history. Some methods for improving a smile include teeth whitening, veneers, and bonding. It is frequently helpful for us to do a digital simulation to show you what a difference cosmetic dentistry can make.
Can you show me what my smile will look like before I agree to a treatment plan?
With digital photography and imaging, we can show you in advance what you will look like after cosmetic dentistry procedures are completed. Our digital consultations are complimentary when you agree to proceed with the proposed treatment.
What makes your office different from other practices?
We have an extraordinary compassion for our patients. This shows in the way we respect your time by scheduling convenient appointments and offering prompt treatment at each visit. In addition, perfectionism is a way of life for our doctors and staff. We are not happy until our patients are happy. From quality esthetic treatments to ensuring that you fully understand our treatment plans, we strive to make you happy.
How can I ask the doctor questions directly?
Dr. Craybas is receptive to answering all of your questions by telephone or by email if that is more convenient for you.
What do I do if I have a dental emergency?
When you have an unfortunate dental emergency, we will ask important and specific questions so our doctors can see you almost immediately. Our goal is to respect your schedule and ours so that we can resolve your dental problem. If you have an emergency after normal hours, please call our main office number, (315) 475-6641, and the voice message will instruct you on how to contact one of the doctors immediately. We will always have a doctor on call to assist you.
Do you accept insurance for my specific treatment?
Although we are technically not participating providers with dental insurance companies, we do our best to maximize the benefits that you are entitled to. For your convenience, we will submit your insurance claims electronically at the same day of service and, in most cases, accept assignment of benefits from your insurance company as partial payment.
My gums bleed after I brush my teeth. Is that anything to be concerned about?
Yes. It is not normal for your gums to bleed easily. Usually, the cause is inflammation from plaque accumulation, which can lead to periodontal disease, but there are other systemic causes as well. Call us to examine your mouth so that we can determine the cause of the bleeding.
I brush everyday, but my breath just is not fresh. Is there anything I can do?
Halitosis, or bad breath, can be reduced and eliminated through careful and regular dental care at home and in our office. If you have not recently had a checkup, we would advise you to come in for a routine exam so that we can try to determine the cause of the problem which may be untreated periodontal disease. Once we discover the culprit of your breath concerns, we can offer options to treat your needs, including products for fresher breath.
Does your office provide second opinions or consultations?
Yes. We will be happy to assess your current condition and offer you advice on proposed treatment. Keep in mind that there often are several alternative treatments for most dental problems. Simply call the office and schedule your appointment.
My spouse snores and keeps me up at night. I have heard a dentist might be able to prescribe an appliance that prevents snoring. Can you help?
Losing sleep because of snoring can be incredibly frustrating. We recommend that your spouse consider having a sleep study done by a certified sleep facility to determine the cause of the snoring. If it appears that it will help, we offer a variety of snoring appliances to alleviate the problem and ensure you will get a good night’s sleep.
